Speaker for

The Austrian Students Association (Österreichische HochschülerInnenschaft) is defined by law as the representative platform for all students. Therefore, all students are automatically members of the Austrian Students Association and are invited to vote their active representation every two years. Every university has its own elected representation; only active students are allowed to vote and to be elected.

The Students Association at the Medical University of Vienna (Universitätsvertretung Medizin) has a defined number of seats in the main commissions of the University, which plays a key role in all major decisions at the MUV. 6 out of 24 members of the senate are students. The second most important commission is the commission of the post-graduate curricula. All new programs have to be approved by this commission.

In addition to our official representational work, many developments are directly negotiated with the director of the post-graduate curricula or other responsible faculty members. It has to be said that a very fair and positive way of discussion is present since the first post-graduate curriculum was founded.

Post-graduate students elected their special political representation (Studienvertretung Doktoratsstudien) in 2007. Three students, Amadea Martischnig, MD; Martin Andreas, MD and Silvia Schmidt-Lueger, MD are now your official contact persons for all issues concerning your study.

Beside of the political representation the main aim of the Students Association at the MUV is to provide high quality service and information for all students at the University. Therefore, we founded the Office for post-graduate students. Our main task was and will be the personal and competent consulting for doctoral students. Therefore, we are every Monday from 16 to 18 o’clock at the Office (AKH, Ebene 6M) and at all other days after prior E Mail request (martin.andreas[at]meduniwien.ac.at)

Our directive is to provide service for students by students. We therefore are interested in all students who want to do this work together with us and invite you to participate in our organization.
